Bundles and anthologies are very popular these days. And for good reason. You get to try a variety of works with a similar theme by different authors…all in one place.

But perhaps you’re not quite ready for the full bundle/anthology experience. I get it. When I was a young reader, I had difficulty branching out and experimenting with my reading. What if I didn’t like the book, I thought. It took me years to realize that if I didn’t like the book I was reading, I didn’t have to finish it. Thank you, OCD. I hated the idea of paying for something I might not enjoy.

And that’s where the brilliance of the Uncollected Anthology comes in. The stories are grouped together like a regular anthology or bundle, but you buy them one at a time.

The latest Uncollected Anthology, Out of the Woods, includes stories from UA regulars Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Dayle A. Dermatis, Leah Cutter, Annie Reed, Rebecca M. Senese and Leslie Claire Walker, as well as guest author Ron Collins.

Because I’m biased (I’m a publisher, what do you want?), I recommend you start with the one WMG publishes, Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s “Primitive Area.”

Primitive Area UA cover web 284Here’s the synopsis:

By the time Sara finds herself in the middle of the Idaho Primitive Area, she knows she made a huge mistake. Her decision clouded by the blush of new love, she agrees to accompany Travis on a weeklong hike. Sara, the city girl, in the woods, camping. And just when she thinks things can’t possibly get worse, she discovers just how wrong things can get—but in ways she never expected. Magical ways…

And once you’re sold on that story (I’ve read it…you will be), you can scroll to the end and read about the rest of the Out of the Woods stories. I bet you’ll find more reading that’s right up your alley.

So, go ahead. Take the leap. You’ll be Out of the Woods in no time.
