As I mentioned in last week’s Publisher’s Note, we were gearing up for a weeklong workshop teaching accomplished writers how to become their own indie publishers.

Well, the workshop has now come to a close, and let me just say what an amazing week it was.

There is nothing as inspiring as being in the company of people who are truly gifted at what they do. Multiply that by twentysomething, and you can imagine the energy flowing through our offices all week.

Good thing, too, given the long days of teaching and learning. (The bags of Halloween candy helped, too [grin]).

And it was a very productive week. Here are some of the results from the workshop:

Covers created by attendees for their own titles at a recent WMG Publishing workshop.

I’m incredibly proud of the work done by these folks, most of whom stepped outside their comfort zones to learn the intricacies of print design, often for the first time. The results here are indicative of the level of talent and the intrinsic artistic ability (they are writers, after all) possessed by our attendees.

And I learned a thing or two this week, as well. That’s the beauty of teaching.

So thanks to Dean Wesley Smith and all of our incredible workshop attendees.

I can’t wait for the next one!
